Miss Us Much??

Sorry I know it's been over a week or more since my last post. Things got a little busy around here, and I lost my camera...DOH. Pretty sure I know where it is but, it's not within reach right now. So until then, it will be "crappy camera phone photos", sorry  in advance.

First off, send some prayers for my father in law "Pop-pop". He had to have surgery on Monday and has a rough recovery ahead of him. He is doing well all things considered and was very pleased with a visit from his grandbabies earlier today. Pray that he comes home soon, and also say a prayer for my mother in law "Grammy" that she can keep right on going and continue to do an amazing job taking care of him. I know she is anxious to get him back home too.

Second, there is something else in the works that I will not share right now :p But it will be keeping my busy off and on for the next few weeks until Dec or a little after. Yes that's right you will have to wait close to two months to find out this little secret. And if you do know...shhh... don't tell :) I will say this, we are very excited about this new beginning of sorts and seeing where this leads.

In the meantime, here's what we have been up too ...

For literally ONE day it got cool enough for hoodies and sweats...

We went to Pirate Day storytime

Went to a fall festival ...

Where Grammy bought us pumpkins to paint

And they got to pet a pony.

I love this pic. Blake's face is priceless! If only we knew what he was saying.

Smile!
The fall festival overlooked a river where my dad and I once spent days fishing. As many know he passed away 5 years ago on Oct 2nd. As we were leaving the festival a butterfly flew by. Chinese legend believes butterflies are a sign of "long life" and the Greek believe its the spirit of a person who has passed. In any event, it took my breath away and gave me a peace that I was looking for. He was there to let me know it would all be ok. He knew the matters of my heart. <3

Apple Picking...

What a better way to spend the day then picking your own fresh apples?

Apple pickin' is serious business...

I want that one...

And this one too..

Blake and his peck of apples

They had red apples too

Enjoying the tractor ride to the orchards

And what's a little apple pickin' with out tasting?

Addison loved the tractor ride and screamed "Wheee" the whole way to the orchard. Blake wasn't thrilled about it but he tolerated it. As soon as we got to the orchard though he demanded "I gonna walk." And "Apples. Apples." It was a nice and peaceful little adventure just the four of us. The weather was great, and we are aready planning to return to this farm on schedule to pick more fruits in season. Pumpkins are up next and then come spring it's berries and peaches!!!! I can't wait to take Blake berry picking. They might have to weight Blake before we leave though because I am sure he can eat his weight in berries.

To the DC Zoo...

On a fall like Thursday we packed up the car and adventured to our Nation's Capital to visit the zoo with Grammy, Pop-pop, Aunt Na, Uncle R. I am pretty sure both babies were more then excited, because they woke up at 7 am (instead of their usual 9 am), and the first words out of Blake's mouth was "Bye bye get Poppy?"

Before we could leave we had to work thru OT with Addison first so we had a wait ahead of us. Blake would hear none of it. He insisted he need a "sirt" and "tants" and "sues". And threw a huge fit when I made him wait. But finally we were on our way. They napped in the car so they were ready to go when we arrived...

We saw cows that go "Mooooo"

And goats....

And wild boar too...

And otters (or maybe it was a seal?)
And the elephants too..

And tropical birds...

And a lizard (or gecko) too...

Lions (but no bears)

And alligators...

And who could forget about our Pop-pop...
And Grammy

And Aunt Na (and the turtles) too!

(Daddy & Uncle R dodged the camera most of the day...there's always next time.)

I am pretty sure we all enjoyed ourselves. The weather was perfect, not hot at all. We enjoyed a pinic lunch and the babies just loved their new wheels. The air was so nice out that they also enjoyed a nap in their stroller again. They talked most of the way home and while it wasn't in Adult English I am sure they were recounting the the adventures of the day and telling us just how much fun they had.

The State Fair!

We spent our Labor Day at the fair thanks to our friend C & Z who gave us two free tickets in return for spending a fun filled day with them :) And that we certainly did. This was Addison & Blake's first trip to the fair and it's always so exciting to see things thru their eyes for the first time.

We arrived not long after the fair opened for the day and the first encounter of the day was with the cows...

This lovely cow right here provided Blake and Addison a first hand experience of "what does a cow say" by
Moooooo-ing at me. Apparently she did not want her photo taken and did not mind telling me about  it.

Next we were off to see the rest of the animals including the goats (I love goats and promise one day I will have one, I can't explain this but I'd have a farm if I could.) Addison was excited to pet the goat, Blake....yeah not so much.

After this we were off to watch the bigger kids ride some rides, that lasted all of a few short minutes when this happened...

There is a space over near that big "wheel" looking ride, yeah that's where we were, under a game tent trying to take cover when we were informed that they need to collapse the tent and we needed to make a run for shelter. Thankfully one of the exhibition halls was open and had some room. We got to look at the Christmas trees in the middle of possibly one of the last Summer rains.

So we waited, and waited a little longer. Finally the rain broke and the sun even made an appearance. We grabbed a quick snack and a drink and headed off to the rides again. It was at this point that Z had convinced us that Addison and Blake really needed to get on a kiddie ride, because ya know... why not?

Several ride tickets later here we are on the Tea Cups with Little Z & his cousin. Poor Blake was scared but kept repeated "I ooooooo taaaaaayyyyy," through his tears because Little Z kept telling him "It's ok Blake really dont be scared."

Please note the ride was not actually moving in this picture, Blake spent the whole ride in my lap/arms screaming. We were still trying to fit all out butts in the seats here.

I think all the excitement wore Addison out after that, so she decided she'd just take a nap.

By the time she woke up we were ready for lunch so we stopped to eat, checked out a few more exhibits and then it was time for the funnel cake. This is one of Addison's favorite foods apparently.

It was after they shared a funnel cake that I captured this precious moment that just melts my heart.

Here's a group shot of all the kiddos (poor B tuckered out by this point)...

Lucky for us, we made it to the car before it starting drizzling again and then ofcourse it started down pouring again. But atleast we were in the car this time lol.

I have to say we all really enjoyed our adventure today. I expected both babies to be asleep in the car but Blake preferred to watch the rain and talk to us (I am sure he was telling us all about how much fun he had.) Addison could be heard sawing logs (she must take after her NANA lol).

Thank you C & Zach again for inviting us along. We had a blast despite the rain, even that was pretty comical.
